Oral Conscious Sedation Dentistry

For a patient who experiences moderate to severe dental anxiety, or who needs extensive care, we can prescribe them medication to take at home on the day of their appointment. By the time they actually reach our dental office and sit in the dental chair, they’ll already be deeply sedated. This approach makes patients feel very serene throughout their visit, and some actually end up dozing off! Because of the strength of OCS, it’s required that a friend or family member drive the patient to and from our dental office.

Nitrous Oxide Dental Sedation

If you only feel slightly nervous about going to the dentist, or if your child needs a little help to get through their appointment, then nitrous oxide sedation might be the perfect fit. Breathed in through a small nasal mask, the gas makes someone feel happy, light, and slightly numb all over. We can adjust the amount of nitrous oxide a patient is inhaling based on their comfort level, and once the mask is removed, the effects go away almost instantly.
